This week, the American Historical Association (AHA)’s magazine Perspectives published my essay “Reinscribing History: The Power and Politics of Monuments to Black Women” I can’t believe I’m on the front page of the AHA’s Perspectives website 🤯
Over the past couple of weeks, I’ve received quite a few messages and DMs from our community asking when the next episode of The Great Gathering is coming out, resources for Black History Month, and other requests.
It is an honor to play a small role in making history more accessible to a wider audience. Since there are also quite a few new people here, I want to share the following resources and updates with you.
Past Series
There are currently 100 episodes on Black Women’s History freely available on Spotify, YouTube, and Apple Podcasts!

In-Person Communities
If you’ve stumbled across my personal newsletter, you might have heard the news already. Last year I launched
which helps thinkers find in-person communities, connect in third spaces, and reclaim their focus and attention in a digitally saturated world. To my surprise, it grew to thousands of people literally overnight! These multi-ethnic, multi-generational gatherings we’ve been organizing have been phenomenal, but we are currently facing a (good) problem. The demand for such events is far outpacing our capacity to serve everyone! This is something that I’ve been diligently working on solving.
Speaking Engagements
After a 3 year hiatus, I also started taking speaking engagements again discussing all things history and solving the loneliness epidemic. More information here. My schedule has become jam-packed, giving me less time to research, write, and produce for this newsletter.
What does all of this mean?
I’m putting a pause on The Great Gathering series for now! I know how much you all were looking forward to this series and this newsletter in general. As a full-time student, I only have but so much time and resources 🥹 Most importantly, I have a dissertation I’m writing!
I apologize for not being able to answer every message. I am sharing these updates to be transparent and honest with you.
Thank you to everyone who has sent support in its various forms and I look forward to bringing back this series in due season! Thank you in advance for understanding 🙏🏾
